The Football Nutrition Post-Exercise

The importance of post workout nutrition cannot be undermined. In order to recover properly from your workouts your body needs essential nutrients to rebuild and re-energize. You’ve worked hard in the gym, or just completed your run, or just finished an intense game and don’t want your sweat and effort to go unrewarded right? Well, the following information is essential in assuring you get the most from your training as well as helping your body recover as best it can.

It is important to realize that making poor food choices following exercise can not only reduce the benefits of exercise but it can also weaken your immune system, increase the likelihood of injury, cause hypoglycemia (drop in blood sugar) and reduce your energy and performance during subsequent exercise sessions.

Carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats all have an important role in the post exercise nutrition. While working out or exercising, your body mainly uses muscle glycogen and blood glucose as its main fuel sources. These glycogen and blood sugar levels can be severely depleted upon completion of an intense workout and must subsequently be replenished to ensure proper recovery.

The Nutrition and Mind Body Link in Football

Food-Brain-Brain-Food link,

We’ve all heard of the “breakfast on champions”.
This is true because it focuses on the daily nurturing of the body to aid the mind in preparation of the events ahead.
It can be a part of a ritual as, proper breathing techniques and adequate liquid consumption.

Focusing on a dietary plan is also preparing the mind for future competitions is a long process.
This is the use of one of the most important issues in life (food), to introduce another important issue (competition), to heighten the all aspects of individual and team performances.

It teaches the players/athletes to cue themselves for their games ahead.

It also prompts acceptable behaviors and fosters conditions of ownership among the players and all those involved in the team.

Nutrition also allows the coaches to use food and other rewards to encourage other acceptable techniques to prepare for a variety of competitions. NO! I’m not encouraging “Pavlovian” psycologial techniques, this is a much longer and indepth process.

Nutrition is only a step in a process towards mental focus.
We have also heard, “strong in body, and strong in mind”.

Why Protective Headgear Is So Important

Although I never had a son to play in sports, my daughter did play football. She was tremendous and I am not bragging. But, my story is not about her playing antics, and she did some, but about a serious injury that happened to a goalie, if I remember that’s the one that tries to stop the ball from going into the net. Now, football isn’t football, and nobody playing football, wears protective headgear and that is why I am going to try to show the significant need for head protection in the face of a ball being projected at fast speeds.

The game was going on as normal, and most of us were watching our eleven year olds being darn cute on the field when one of them managed to get the ball down within scoring distance of the net. He kicked. The ball hit the goal keeper smack in the middle of his forehead and sent him reeling back, unfortunately right back into pole that held the net. He fell and by some bizarre twist of his body tumbled down onto his shoes. He was knocked out and when he came to, he had a bright red spot on his neck where his shoes, his own shoes, had kicked him!

Football and Yoga

Perhaps you might conclude that yoga and football do not have many things in common. In reality however, yoga can enhance a football player’s game.

Yoga is known to the world as a stress buster and it mainly rejuvenates the spirit and inner strength of a person. Yoga is beneficial for everybody from across all age group. Men and women can both benefit much from yoga sessions.

Believe it or not football players can get the benefits from yoga despite the very nature of the football game.

football is a contact sport so it a player is required to bring out much strength and agility to dominate the game. But players are often left consumed and tired. A considerable percentage of the male population think that yoga is for women alone and it certainly does not have anything to do with sports. Yoga is not a type of sport but yoga itself can absolutely improve the athlete’s performance during games.

Yoga is not a funny thing to do and the people who do yoga must not be taken as a laughing stock. Yoga and football can work together. Mental discipline and flexibility are just two of the many benefits a player can get from practicing yoga When playing football, the mind does a vital role in decision making and application of skills in order to win the game.
